PVC insulated industrial underground armored cable designed for demanding applications.
What is Armoured Cable?
Armoured cables, also known as SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) or AWA cables, are robust power cables engineered for industrial use. These include single core power cables and multi-core booklet armoured cables for mains power distribution.
Armoured Cable Specifications
Conductor: Plain stranded copper or aluminium
Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) provides high temperature resistance and excellent dielectric strength
Bedding: Protective barrier layer between insulation and armour
Armour: Steel or aluminium armour for mechanical protection against external stresses
Sheath: Outer protective layer; black sheaths are carbon-loaded for UV stability

Armoured Copper Power Cable Details
1kV-10kV XLPE armoured power cables comply with IEC 60502 standard, with options for OEM requirements and other standards including BS, DIN, and ASTM. Voltage capacity extends to 35kV with cross-section areas up to 400 sqmm (copper or aluminium conductor).
Operating Parameters:
Conductor operating temperature: 90°C continuous
Short-circuit temperature: Maximum 250°C
Suitable for underground laying with significant altitude variations, capable of withstanding external mechanical forces and moderate pulling tension.
Installation: Can be installed in duct, tray, or direct burial. Follow Local Electric Code guidelines for proper installation and safety.
